In the small town of Little Wesley, Vic and Melinda Van Allen's loveless marriage hinges on an unusual agreement: Melinda is allowed to take lovers, only that she maintains the relationship in secret. Victor, who has the crush on ex-girlfriend dead then confess the crime to deny the present affection of Felia. Nevertheless, he confesses but the situation is not taken seriously, bringing the twist in the story which nobody is ready to accept and no one is expecting.

Through Deep Water, Adrian Lyne puts the audience in the middle of the world where there is no eroricism without psychological stress. Ben Affleck and Ana de Armas will feature in this adaptation of the famous Highsmith book, hoping to deliver this film, the story of a deadly relationship full of desire and deception.

Plot Synopsis

On Bright Victorian day, the film set in the quiet town of Little Wesley, Louisiana, introduces the audience to the inner world of the Van Allen family, whose marriage is facing crisis. The idyllic life that the couple is building of their unconventional relationship becomes the nestle of green; it is in the course of events that the facade is seen to collapse and a series of mysterious deaths and revelations is witnessed.

Cast and Production

Directed by Ben Afleck, Ana de Armas plays Louisa in this troubled period and much like the mixed one comprising of a talented group of actors including Tracy Letts, Lil Rel Howery and Finn Wittrock. Adrian Lyne’s direction sleuths nothing but Highsmith’s laconic story for us, bringing out a magnificent and emotionally rich masterpiece for us by the screen.

Release and Reception

COVID-19 showed up as a cause of the another delays so Deep Water got its premiere on Hulu in March 2022. The movie was aird on March 2022 with big audience. Though the audience responses were mixed, the critics hailed the movie for its suspenseful environment and the pretty performers between its lead actors.

Critical Response

Although the majority of critics acclaim Deep Water for its interesting storyline and the fact that it is the author was unaware of the finale, others felt that the story is not as engaging and read-worthy as Highsmith’s source material. However, Affleck’s and de Armas’ gritty portrayals were largely responsible for that recognition among these magnificent fronts as the performances were intense and deep-rooted emotionally.
