Samuel Little the full name being Samuel McDowell was born on June 7, 1940 in Reynolds, Georgia and was an American Serial killer responsible for the murder of 93 women between the periods of 1970 to 2005. His identification was later ratified by the FBI for his implication in at least 60 of these murders making him the most prolific serial killers in the United State’s history.
Little once told people that his mother was a teenage prostitute and dumped him as a baby. Born to a woman who was not his mother and being raised mainly by his grandmother in Lorain, Ohio he had issues with his discipline and showed a sexually deviant behavior of having an interest in strangling women. He was convicted of breaking and entering in the year 1956, after which he embarked on a criminal career which covered many years.
Little was first convicted and incarcerated in 1961 for burglary of a furniture store. He had had 26 arrests throughout the years across 11 states which include theft, assault and attempted rape. In 1982, he was charged with the murder of Melinda Rose LáPree in Mississippi , but no indictment was found on him . He was also freed in the murder trial of Patricia Ann Mount in Florida later on.
Little has a history of felony crimes and other malicious acts that include kidnapping and attempting to murder people hence he was put in prison in the 1980s. After his release in 1987 he migrated to the United States particularly to Los Angeles and continued to murder helpless women.
Little was arrested in 2012 in Kentucky state and was transferred to California where through a DNA match he was convicted of three murders in Los Angeles. He was arrested in the year 2014 and was charged in the same year and was later sentenced to life imprisonment without a chance of a parole.Nevertheless, he continued denying that he had committed the crime.
Soon in January, 2018 Little started confessing having killed approximately 90 indivisible in order to be transferred to a new prison. It is for this reason that through his confessions that touched fourteen states, he was able to provide solutions to several cold cases. Little’s confessional details assisted the cops in confirming his involvement in many other unsolved murder cases and thus, provided some measure of justice to the victims’ families before he died in 2020.
Samuel Little, one of the most active multi killers in United States of America, pleaded guilty to more than 93 murders with fifty six of them being affirmed by the police. Most of his female targets were prostitutes, drug addicts or homeless, which made them insignificant in society thus easy targets for Little to pursue without fear of getting caught.
Eight people were killed, and Little was convicted of all of them which take place in different states and the victims were between twenty-three and forty-three years old. These women were typically strangled, often after being brutally assaulted:Such women were mainly choked, after they were likely to be sexually assaulted:
- Annie Lee Stewart (32) – She was killed on October 1981 in Cincinnati of Ohio through strangled. She was discovered dead naked in the woods, behind some apartments in Grove City.
2. Mary Jo Peyton (21) – a former friend of Little who was also raped and killed in 1984 after she left a bar in Cleveland. Her body was found in an abandoned factory area, but her assailant was never found.
3. Carol Linda Alford (41 years) – Killed in Los Angeles in year 1987. She was naked when her body was discovered in an alley and the fiber on the clothes which was believed to belong to her led investigators to Little.
4. Audrey Nelson Everett (35) – She was found in Los Angeles in March 1989 jammed in a dumpster. She was badly injured, she had a fractured spine and several head injuries.
5. Guadalupe Apodaca (46) – located in an auto shop that was long vacated along the eastern part of Los Angeles in 1989. He chocked Little to death and her body yielded traces that suspected Little leading to his arrest.
6. Zena Marie Jones (30) – [Status: deceased] Disappeared in Memphis Tennessee in 1990 and her body found killed. She lie dead beside the Mississippi River.
7. B. Rose Evans (32)– killed in Cleveland, Ohio in 1991. This is the same man who chocked Little to death inside his car and then left her body in a lot.
8. Denise Christie Brothers (32) – Discovered in Odessa Texas in 1994. Little got his fourth life sentence for this murder in 2018.
Little confessed to many more murders, frequently giving pen and ink descriptions of the deceased of which many were taken as accurate by the police. Such victims involved women in different states and across the period of over three-decade, starting from Florida up to California. Though most of such cases have not been solved, some of his confessions has been substantiated by other agencies where unidentified skeletons have been found.
But in some of Little’s confessions, they had no corresponding case. Such victims were from as early as 1971 in Miami, Florida to as late as 1996 in California, Los Angeles. The circumstances of these confessions imply that the serial killer preferred attacking defenceless women and social pariahs more often.
Little had a problematic relationship with women, he had a long term girlfriend named Orelia “Jean” Dorsey who used to steal for him. Dorsey died in 1988. Little himself passed on on December 30, 2020, Of complications resulting from; diabetes, heart complications, among other illnesses at a Los Angeles County hospital.
Sadly, it is the spirit of ‘Get Little’ because this man was able to kill and rape so many women for so long because of system failures, abusing women whom society does not care about. His confessions that involved even the police prove what one is capable of doing when he has no conscience at all.
