The Taste of Things (French: Dodin Bouffant or La Passion de Dodin Bouffant is a film of 2023 with Juliette Binoche and Benoit Magimel with Vietnamese beginning though born in France director Tran Anh Hung. Plot Summary
Romance in the Kitchen
Taking its name ‘La Cocotte’ from the French word for a mistress of a house, cook, the movie is based in a country estate of France in 1889 with the character Eugénie working for Dodin, a food aficionado. Although Eugénie and Dodin live together as a couple for many years, they have private rooms in the house. Dodin continually offers marriage to Eugénie, although she is satisfied with the arrangement that they have at the moment. They get to have a fun time in creating new dishes, in their case proving their harmony and love for cooking.

That is how the story progresses; they lay the groundwork for a grand meal to be hosted for Dodin’s friends. But, soon, Eugénie experiences some episodes of fainting which makes Dodin worried much. As the evidence of his love Dodin cooks her a very special dinner and puts the engagement ring in the middle of the cake. Eugénie agrees to marry him and Fredrik and Eugénie are happy but Eugénie dies in her sleep at night.

In grief Dodin simply stops eating and tries to avoid any contact with the people around him. Later he starts recruiting new cooks with the help of Pauline who proved to be a talented cook. Using the examples of flashbacks, one can stress the aspects of the close relation between Eugénie and Dodin that sexual harassment blurred.

Production
Most of the film was compiled at Château du Raguin at Chazé-sur-Argos, Maine-et-Loire in April and May of 2022. French celebrity chef Pierre Gagnaire also was involved in the film as the culinary director and played one of the chefs themselves. Also it should be pointed out that Juliette Binoche and Benoît Magimel were a couple from 1998 till 2003 and has a daughter with him.
