Plot
In most stories, in 2018 – Wade Wilson/Deadpool used Cable’s time-travel device to prevent his girlfriend’s death but the Avengers rejected him and he went back to his universe. Six years later he is no longer in active service and is a used car salesman. Landing in his birthday, he encounters the Time Variance Authority (TVA) which informs him that the timeline of his universe is going bad as a result of the death of the anchor being known as Logan. One day Deadpool accompanies a rather unenthusiastic version of Wolverine to prevent the TVA from using the Time Ripper.
They experience different adversities such as fight with Cassandra Nova and latter’s army and eventually have to terminate Time Ripper for the sake of their universes. Finally, Deadpool takes Wolverine to introduce him to his friends and asking him to come to terms with his past.
Cast
– Ryan Reynolds as Wade Wilson / Deadpool: A talking mercenary with a healing factor, a sense of humor, and has retired taking a job at a used car dealership. Also plays the variant Nicepool.
– Hugh Jackman as Logan / Wolverine: An alien with powers to heal himself and claws that can come out from his fingers from an alternate dimension. Shamelessly depicting the further Wolverine lesser-known versions.
-Emma Corrin as Cassandra Nova: A mutant, who has the power of telepathy and telekinesis, the twin sister of Charles Xavier.
– Morena Baccarin as Vanessa Carlysle: The abused wife’s former fiancée.

Production
Development:
– It was initiated in November 2016 by 20th Century Fox but was ceased after Disney bought Fox. FOX lost it, then Marvel Studios stepped in, ensuring Deadpool stayed in the MCU and kept his R rating.
– The script was written by Ryan Reynolds, Rhett Reese, Paul Wernick, and Zeb Wells and Wendy and Lizzie Molyneux.
– Shawn Levy was hired as the director in March 2022 once Hugh Jackman signed up to return in the Wolverine.
Filming:
– Principal photography commenced in May 2023 at the Pinewood Studios in England with shoots in Norfolk, Los Angeles , and at Bovingdon Film Studios.
– It was briefly pause due to the 2023 SAG-AFTRA strike but the production continue in November and completed in January 2024.
Key Moments:
We also see Jackman coming back as Wolverine which was a significant of the movie because it brought another dimension to the plot and made the movie to be in touch with the bigger picture of MCU.

Deadpool Variants: Some of the characters include Mary Puppins / Dogpool, Ladypool, Kidpool, and other such characters.
Cameos: Andrew Cavanagh as the sixth Waldron and Carl Remke as Grylls, Madolyn Cavanagh as Ravenswood, Henry Cavill as a Wolverine variant, and other parts such as Billy Clements and Eduardo as Gago Munoz.
It is a comedy, action movie that features Deadpool and the MCU, therefore, has a story that is full of life as well as the multiverse aspect for flair.
Pre-production
It was in October of 2022 when pre-production for Deadpool & Wolverine started, this was shortly after Hugh Jackman came on-board and declared that he would be taking on the role, this made it one of the quickest pre-production processes for a big budget film. Once planning to enter production at the beginning of 2023 in Vancouver, the release date is not until November 8, 2024. Reynolds let out that filming would commence in mid 2023 while director Shawn Levy put it at May. Shawn assured the audiences that the movie would retain the R-rating of the former films, and for inspiration, was looking at comedies like *Midnight Run and Planes, Trains, and Automobiles.
Patrick Stewart was contacted to appear in a cameo for Professor X character but he only has a name mention in the final movie. In February 2023, joining the series as the lead villain is Cassandra Nova after Marvel showed an interest in the series in late December 2022. Levy himself followed Corrin’s stage performance and offered him the part. March reports included TVA characters from Loki, with Matthew Macfadyen starring as a ‘third wheel’ to Deadpool and Wolverine. It was announced that Karan Soni and Leslie Uggams would return as part of the cast of the film, with Morena Baccarin and Stefan Kapičić joining later. Brianna Hildebrand and Shioli Kutsuna were also back in the film.
Graham Churchyard and Mayes C. Rubeo, costumed Jackman – with obvious nod to the comic and animated series, some elements of which were borrowed from the different periods of Wolverine’s comics existence. Deadpool costume also got a change in look which was a brighter red and much larger black circles evoking 1990s comics look as worn by Reynolds. The various modifications that were made on the cartoon were well welcomed by the fans.
Filming
Principal photography started on 22 May 2023, in London and at Pinewood Studios; the title used during production was Tidal Wave. Despite Reynolds urging for making the film in Vancouver, most of the shooting was done in London because of already existing framework. The ongoing shooting of the movie stopped abruptly on July 14, 2023, after shooting for 35 days because of the SAG-AFTRA strike. While on the industrial action, the work which was done was mainly editing and visual effects with Levy and Reynolds as the major doers, Reynolds noted that Disney insisted on preserving the sets.
The shooting halted on November 23, 2023 due to the SAG-AFTRA strike and resumed afterwards. Looking at the behind the scene photos it was shown that Sabretooth and Toad were on the scenes and hints to Tyler Mane and Ray Park’s portrayals were made. Reynolds and Jackman shot on location in Norfolk and London while small scenes were shot at Los Angeles where Jon Favreau made a brief appearance as Happy Hogan; the movie also featured a dance sequence.
Speaking of Wrexham A. F. C., Rob McElhenney appeared in a cameo The film was on the list of projects that studios aimed to return to shooting after the strike. Scoops from the set made Reynolds take to fake images todrawfocusaway. It was announced in early January 2024 that the final shooting script featured characters from other Marvel films; filming wrapped on June 19, 2024. Other changes in the cast were the introduction of Wesley Snipes as Blade and Chris Evans as Johnny Storm.
Post-production
During the teaser trailer in February 2024, cameo from Randal Reeder as Buck character and Lewis Tan as Shatterstar was announced and Corrin was introduced as Cassandra Nova. Originally, rumours had it that Vinnie Jones and Nicolas Cage were set to be cast in the movie but the issue of time and money eliminated them. There was also a message after the credits —a message paying homage to Fox’s Marvel films. The last trailer revealed involvement of Dafne Keen and a massive 20th Century Fox logo.
Hence, editing was done to make adjustments of the pace with Levy not keen on leaving the film open for sequels. The making of the film was closed with post-production work on June 19, 2024. Some of the post-production work details are as follows: Employing VFX from other VFX companies; Other leaks, such humorous faux images by Reynolds.
Music
The score for Deadpool & Wolverine was commissioned to Rob Simonsen, who previously worked with Shawn Levy on Adam Project and Stranger Things 4, in mid July 2023. The soundtrack, titled Deadpool & Wolverine: Van Jamz, released in a digital format by Hollwood Records on July 24, 2024, in the physical format – on July 26. With 17 tracks, it is based on the film and includes Simonsen’s main composition ‘LFG’ Composed by Simonsen, an album in its digital première from the 24th of July, also includes both the soundtracks as well as score. Additionally, an EP titled Deadpool & Wolverine: The “Like a Prayer” EP by Madonna, the song, and its remixes were released by Warner Records on August 9, 2024.
Marketing
To support the film’s promotion and advertisement there was a strong and multifaceted campaign in place. The first official tease started with a teaser trailer during the Super Bowl LVIII on February 4, 2024 which revealed the film as R rated and showed entrance of Deadpool into MCU. One such trailer which went viral was the Deadpool joining the MCU trailer, which came with a very explicit pegging joke. It garnered 365 million global views in its first 24 hours, surpassing *Spider-Man: As the most seen trailer in the same period is Spiderman spin-off – Spiderman: No Way Home. Jackman honestly trolled Reynolds using a edited logo for this, and Reynolds and Jackman has been awarded Guinness World Records for this.
Before the presentation at the CinemaCon entertainment tradeshow in April 2024, a funny PSA with Deadpool and Wolverine was shown, which was then succeeded by nine film clips. An extended official trailer uploaded later on April 22 was accompanied by Madonna’s “Like a Prayer.” Another trailer released on 20 May focused on ticket pre-sale, and featured Reynolds reading the disclaimer for the film.
At the end of May, there was an official movie popcorn bucket released to the public, which, to many people’s surprise, has been created intentionally vulgar and obscene, and a commercial promoting the bucket was made with Deadpool himself.
Two weeks before the start of the promotion, a teaser for him suggested Ladypool, and people began to discuss the cast. Reynolds also featured in a ‘low-tone’ promotional video at CineEurope to set the stage for 12 minutes of footage from the movie. In July the cast began a promotional tour with Shanghai, Seoul, Berlin, London, and Rio de Janeiro marked on the calendar. They have participated in commercials, television shows, *The Bachelorette*, music video “Chk Chk Boom” by Stray Kids, and even a car Formula One promotional livery. At comic con San Diego on July 25, the movie was premiered while a drone light-show consist of Deadpool and wolverine graphics was also launched. Reynolds as well as Jackman and the other cast members also provided television and speckular performances.
Release
Deadpool & Wolverine came to New York City’s DAVID H KOCH THEATER on July at 22 2024. It was released in several other countries on July 24 and 25 and in the United States and China on July 26 in both conventional and IMAX and Dolby Cinema. It has had several shifts in the date of the release and is categorized under phase five of MCU and is set to be released in July 2024. It would be the first one of all the Marvel’s movies in the cinematic universe which would be categorised as R18+. Citing this, Director Shawn Levy categorically stated that he would not be releasing a director’s cut of Night at the Museum because what was as out in theaters was the final product.
Reception
Box Office:
As at the close of business on August 20, 2024, Deadpool & Wolverine has earned gross revenues of $549. 9 million in the U. S. and Canada alone and $597. 500 internationally with domestic traffic equal to 9 million users. 148 billion. It also broke many records among which; the highest-grossing R-rated film’s opening weekend with $211. 4 million in the U. S. and Canada and $444 million in Europe. 6 million worldwide. It is now the most profitable R-rated Disney movie and pushed out Joker (2019) as the most profitable R-rated movie worldwide.
Critical Response:
The film sought a number of critical responses. The film obtained the favourable rating of 78% and a rate of 6 on Rotten Tomatoes. 9/10. It has been pointed out that the two lead actors – Reynolds and Jackman – look good on the screen and yet the comedy does not disappear and is underscored by the throwback to earlier superhero films. Concerning the critics’ reviews, the game has the average rating of 56/100 at Metacritic.
Audiences were slightly more positive – CinemaScore assigned the film the grade of A+, while PostTrak reported that 96% of the respondents had a positive impression about the movie. The reactions were varied from like Jackman and his conversion to wanted to make the marketing and the film silly entertainment to the troll meta jokes pointing that the narrative was weak. While some of the critics I read was entertained by the film and sees it as a good film in MCU the others considered it as childish and not deep enough.
